Qualification For Membership: A trained counsellor in any Counselling, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology and Psychiatry discipline or on-the-job-training counsellor who abides by Counsellors’ ethics, techniques and qualities.



SPECIFIC OJECTIVES
1. To mentor and license professional Counsellors and Ministers.
2. To promote and organize counselling and leadership training in psychology, psychiatry, sociology, anthropology, organizational         development, business and leadership training programmes at all  levels globally. 
3. To train Family Counsellors who will assist couples in Pre / Post Marriage and parental Counselling.
4. To provide scholarship programmes for orphans, brilliant but needy children and school drop outs in communities.
5. To train professional counsellors from both the public and private sectors in Africa and beyond.
6. To collaborate with some institutions and organisations for quality services to humanity. These include National Vocational  Training Institute, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Registrar General’s Department, Volta River  Authority, Ghana AIDS Commission, University of Education, Winneba, Regent University of Science & Technology, National Labour Department, Ghana Publishing Company Ltd, Accra Polytechnic, Ghana Institute of Languages, National Youth Authority, Kimbu Senior High School, and National Population Council. The rest are Islamic Council, Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Pantang Hospital, Addictive Diseases Unit, KBTH, Ghana Education Service, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Health Service, Department of  Social Welfare, Human Rights Advocates, Christian Council, Ghana Pentecostal Council, Ghana Journalist Association, Domestic Violence & Victim Support Unit, Banks, NGOs/CSOs, National Service Personnel Secretariat, I.T Consultants, Business Analysts African Union, ECOWAS, United Nations, British Psychological Association, and American Psychological Association.
7. To send Counsellors to rural centres, urban centres, under developed, developing and developed countries globally to assist humanity to solve their social and psychological problems.
8.  To fight against discrimination and stigmatisation in HIV/AIDS cases in communities.
9.  To provide continuous care, support, counselling and educational programmes for members to be effective in their ministries.
10. To build human capacity in the fight of Human Rights Abuses, crimes, violence, discrimination, underestimation and under development.
11. To assist members to establish meaningful covenant relationship with one another.
12. To promote health, agriculture and education in communities.
13. To create Income Generating Activities for humanity as well as individuals.
14. To collaborate with National and International Organizations to build schools, hospitals and libraries to support humanity.
                                                       
                                                           MEETINGS & CONTINUOUS COUNSELLING EDUCATION

The Association’s meetings shall be scheduled as follows:

1.  Regional/Metro/Municipal/District Executives meeting shall be held once monthly.
2. Regional/Metropolitan/Municipal/District Executives and Members meeting with seminar/workshop shall be held once in every two months.
3. National Executive meeting shall be held quarterly.
4.  International General House Meeting with seminar/conference shall be held once annually(first week in December or first week          March)
5.  Emergency meetings shall be held when it deemed necessary.
6. The meeting place shall be held at Akona School of Counselling Training premises, offices, AAPMAC offices or any                           convenience place decided by the Executive.
7. AAPMAC National Parliament House meeting shall be held once monthly (second Saturday).
8. AAPMAC African Parliament House meeting shall be held once annually (February/March for four days).
9. AAPMAC Global Parliament House meeting shall be held once annually (February/March for four days).

NOTE: Meeting shall be held on meeting days or emergency meetings without considering the participants number (few members).

·   Church Development: Strategic Planning, Missions and implementation.
·   Business Plans Development, Business Proposals Development, Project Management for NGOs, FBOs and individuals.
·   Trained leaders and heads of organizations in our training programmes.
·   Fridge was donated to Addictive Diseases Unit, Department of Medicine, KBTH.
·   Worship nights were organized at the training centres which resulted with miracles, healings and total breakthrough.
·   34 Professionals were trained from Oct. 2008-27th Nov. 2010 in various disciplines (Psychosocial Counselling, Marriage & Family                Counselling, Theology & Leadership)
·   Over hundred distinguished personalities from both public and Private sectors selected from various districts received Honorary                     Award and Gift on Saturday 27th November, 2010 on the first Graduation in Accra Mamprobi.
·  187 Professional counsellors and Pastors from Various organisations and department were trained and Graduated on Sat. 30th June, 2012       in various disciplines (Psychosocial Counselling, Marriage & Family Counselling, Theology & Leadership)
·  5th April 2014 over 200 Professionals were graduated in the above disciplines.

BRIEF HISTORY: African Association of Psychosocial and Marriage Counsellors is a non-denominational, non-partisan, non-governmental organization which traces its origin to the Guidance, Psychosocial, Community, Marriage/Family, and Sits/HIV/AIDS Counselling Ministry which ABRAHAM KONOTEY AHULU began in 2004, in Ghana, West Africa. It was officially registered in 2011 with Ghana Registrar General’s Department, (Certificate of Incorporation and Certificate to Commerce Business), Department of Social Welfare (Recognition) and Ghana Publishing Company Limited (Gazette) as Counsellors and Ministers training, mentoring and licensing Organisation.

AAPMAC was officially launched on Saturday 30th June, 2012 by Hon. Moses Asaga, the then Minister of Employment and Social Welfare on behalf of H.E John Dramani Mahama. Assisted by Dr. Akwesi Osei, the Chief Psychiatrist & Director, Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Mr.  Lawrence Lartey, Greater Accra Regional Director of CHRAJ, Dr. P.K. Badu-Addo, Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Psychology & Education, University of Education, Winneba, Mrs. Victoria De-Graft Adjei, Co-ordinating Counsellor, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Mike Asamoah, Ghana United Nations Association (GUNA) Country Director, Mr. Samuel A. Akuamoah, Director of Education, NCCE. Supt B. Agyapong, Former Deputy Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinator, DOVVSU, Mrs. Victoria Amoah, Ghana Publishing Company Limited, Accra, Madam Hidayatu Masaid and Alhaji Khuzianu Osman, Office of the National Chief Imam, Accra.

Whereas, we regard as one body, AFRICAN ASSOCIATION OF PSYCHOSOCIAL AND MARRIAGE COUNSELLORS herein after called “The Counsellors Organization” or “AAPMAC” which shall assist humanity to solve their social and psychological challenges.  We therefore, agree to pool our resource as a uniformed association to systematically enhance human development in Africa and beyond.  It has been affiliated to Akona Foundation, Public Organisations and other organizations/associations with common interest. African Association of Psychosocial & Marriage Counsellors is an Umbrella of Akona School of Counselling Ghana.
